Results of continuous dioxin / furan emission control using AMESA
Since 1999 a complete network of more than 50
AMESA units has been installed throughout Belgium.
In the Walloon region of Belgium, twelve units were installed in four domestic waste incineration plants. The results of the long-term monitoring in this region are published on the
internet homepage of the region.
As the results showed, several plants fulfilled the low emission requirements to a very high degree while continuously monitoring. However, the dioxin emissions of some plants occasionally exceeded the limit values.
Nevertheless these exceeding decreased over the years and it could be demonstrated that the total dioxin emissions of a complete region can be reduced as a fact of the continuous monitoring.
In general, in the Walloon region of Belgium, the total dioxin emission were reduced from the year 2001 to the year 2006 by a
factor of 20 to
0,03 g TEQ, still if the total quantity of burned waste increased by 50 %.
This shows how
AMESA can successfully help to reduce the PCDD/PCDF emissions in an effective way.
